Regulate. Choose one value. Take one committed action. That's the whole Blueprint.
Most morning routine guides are a list of inputs optimised for output. Cold shower, ten pages, green juice. And no real question underneath about who you're actually choosing to be today.
This one asks that question first. Three parts, fifteen minutes, and a seven-day tracker so you can see whether it's actually holding, rather than guessing.

Not a ten-point mission statement. One thing, held loosely, to guide today.

Two reasons, and both come from the research on how habits actually form.
Mornings stick better. A 2024 review led by the University of South Australia, pooling 20 studies and more than 2,600 people, found that habits practised in the morning tended to become stronger and more automatic than the same habits at other times of day. Your morning is the least crowded part of the day. Fewer decisions have been made, fewer demands have landed, and there's less for a new habit to compete with.
Small is what lasts. The same research puts the typical time for a habit to become automatic at around two months, and often longer. That's why the Blueprint is fifteen minutes and three parts, not an hour and ten. Small enough to survive a bad week. Simple enough to keep doing until it runs on its own. The science of behaviour change goes deeper on why willpower-heavy routines collapse and small ones don't.
The order matters too. Regulate first, because a nervous system running hot defaults straight to old habits. Then choose, then act. Get those the wrong way round and you're making decisions from your autopilot. For the full thinking behind it, read a morning routine for intentional living.
I made this for people who've tried the big morning routine and watched it fall over by week three. If you know what you want to change but your days keep getting decided for you by the inbox, this gives you fifteen minutes that are yours first.
Each part connects to deeper work on the site if you want it. For choosing your value, the Values Generator and values-based living help you find the ones that are genuinely yours. The committed action comes straight from ACT, where acting on a value while the doubt is still there is the whole point. And if your mornings start at your desk, the free Workday Mindfulness Guide picks up where the Blueprint leaves off.
Underneath all three parts is the same idea that runs through The Self Blueprint: a small action, repeated, is how a new identity gets built. All long-lasting change happens at the identity level, and the morning is a good place to start it.
